Astellas Employees Helps Local Food Bank

A group of Astellas employees embarked on a joint mission to create a team-building event while contributing to Astellas' vision of promoting social responsibility. The team-building mission was inspired to help build leadership skills, boost morale and share talents. Additionally, the event created an opportunity for these 17 employees to uphold the Astellas Business Philosophy acting as "Good Corporate Citizens" by undertaking activities that build strong ties with the local community.

The team set out from Astellas to a local food bank that helps to create a hunger-free Northern Illinois by providing nutritious foods to those in need through volunteer efforts and acquires donated food and financial support from retailers, manufacturers, corporations, community resources, and individual volunteers.

Once there, the team sorted, labeled and weighed boxes of frozen meats donated by grocery stores for distribution to hungry people through a network of over 520 nonprofit food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, and other food assistance sites serving 13 Northern Illinois counties.
