Astellas Employees March for Acceptance and Equality in 48th Annual Chicago Pride Parade
On Sunday, June 25, 2017, Astellas employees, family and friends came out to represent Astellas and march for acceptance and equality in Chicago's 48th annual LGBTQ Pride Parade – our 8th consecutive year of participation. The activity was led by TAO (Together as One), Astellas' employee resource group (ERG) for members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning community and their straight allies. More than 1 million enthusiastic supporters lined the parade route through Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood.
"The Pride Parade reminds us how far the LGBTQ community has come toward equality and acceptance, while events like Orlando remind us of how far we still have to go," said Ellen Papadakis, assistant general counsel and TAO's chair. "It is no small thing to work at an LGBTQ-inclusive company, and the fantastic turnout from our colleagues embodied the spirit of 'One Astellas.' Thanks to everyone who came out to support TAO and the LGBTQ community."
